Poem - October/November 2005

Fort Night
© 2005 by Jerry Esnough

Rising then falling
Into the endless
Pointing outward
Believing what never goes anywhere

Like a dog aware of table scraps
Inbred hope
From were I began
Ignoring the rules knowingly

Relentlessly suppressed
Within my full days dream
Walking through a vestibule
Surrounded by illusionary light

Night finally falls
The faithful time keeper
Without emotion or judgment
Weighs my wasted day
