Men Talk Symposium - April/May 2001

Ed. note: We have no poem or book review this month. Instead we bring you this information about a possible upcoming conference.

Twin Cities Men’s Health & Well-Being Symposium

Saturday, October 20, 2001
The Twin Cities Men’s Center is coordinating and co-sponsoring a one-day symposium dedicated to men’s health. A volunteer group is meeting on some Saturday mornings at the Men’s Center to plan this event. Here’s what we have created so far.

Why? To educate and inspire men to improve their own health (self-care). Men’s health is a popular issue with aging males who are afraid of death. Men’s life expectancy in the USA is seven to nine years shorter than women’s.

What? Men’s health can be defined broadly (integrative/holistic health; and body, mind, spirit), including physical health, emotional health, spiritual health, social health, intellectual health.

When? Saturday, October 20th, in conjunction with a weekend celebration of the Men’s Center’s 25th anniversary (October 21st) as a non-profit organization.

Where? A Twin Cities-area venue to be determined shortly.

    Who? Twin Cities-area health-care professionals.

Are you interested in helping make this conference a reality? We need volunteers for: Conference Committee Co-Chair, Program Co-Chairs, Facilities Chair and Finance Chair. If you’d like to help in other ways, I’d like to hear from you as well! Please contact Andy Mickel (612)331-8396 (home) or by e-mail: andym@mr.net.
