Suppose that you bought your home in a neighborhood where you knew for certain that considerably more than half the homes would burn to the ground in the next five to ten years. You couldn’t tell which ones, but you know they will burn. Now, how could you justify to yourself that you never bought fire insurance, or took any action at all to protect your home and family?
