| The Men's Center Board appreciates the volunteer presenters who return from time to time and welcome first timers. Their presentations add a new dimension to our weekly Wednesday night gatherings. Presenters new to the Men's Center are: Chris Tenneson and Bob Anderson. Returning to continue their support are: Martha & Roy Sanbower, Jim Guswiler, Herb Jaehne, Dave Mueller, Steve Press, John Bullough.
Please take time to read the descriptions and plan to attend if they stimulate your interest. Bring a friend to share the experience and acquaint him/her with the Men's Center. Each presentation is intended to promote personal growth, stimulate your interest in a topic, and to give you an opportunity to interact with other attendees. Telling Stories To Children
Presenter: Larry Johnson & Elaine Wynne

Open to Men & Women
Come and spend a couple hours looking at the tales that shaped you as children and the practicing the ones you already do or wish to tell to your own children or grand children. Open to men and women and assumes the importance of sharing the positive influencing of children. Will include some hints on shaping personal stories as well as giving storytelling life to those already in print. We'll talk just a bit about storytelling following through as children become older and even adults.
Larry Johnson and Elaine Wynne have worked together as the Key of See Storytellers for almost 20 years, teaching many people of many different backgrounds to find their own stories and use them in their work, especially the work of raising children. They are partnered with a blended family of five grown up children with eleven grandchildren to share storytelling with. Larry and Elaine have just returned from doing several workshops in Scandinavia where a main countrywide event is Alle Berrattres Dag or Everyone Tell A Story Day.
Constructive Living
Presenter: Jim Guswiler

"Trying to subdue a wave by striking it only results in a thousand waves." Trying to control our emotions is as hopeless as trying to demolish a wave with a single hammer blow. Constructive Living is a common-sense approach to handling the ups and downs of everyday life. It explores what is controllable and what is uncontrollable in our lives and directs us to put our efforts on the controllable parts. "Doing what needs to be done" is what Constructive Living is all about.
Jim Guswiler is certified Constructive Living Instructor. He provides individual and group education programs.
Issues Relating to Depression

This presentation for men and women will be given by Christine Tennessen, Licensed School Nurse in Minneapolis. She will offer an overview of this condition with a focus on the issues of loss, stress and coping skills. Community resource information will also be available. Interaction with Chris is encouraged.
Christine is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College and is currently working toward a master's degree at the University of Minnesota.
Toward Reconnecting With Life's Passion at Mid-Life
Presenter Gerald T. Semmler

Mid-life is often at time when things that motivated in the past don't anymore. This workshop focuses on reconnecting with life's passion. The workshop is comprised of lecture, experiential exercises and group discussion. Methodology will be an integration of right and left brain; a development task for men at mid-life.
Gerald Semmler, Ph. D., L.P. is a licensed psychologist who has worked in community/organizational and clinical psychology. He has BA from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Ph. D. from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He has been active in the Men's Center. For a number of years his clinical practice centered on men. His interests and hobbies include "almost everything". Presently, he enjoys yoga, folk music and sailing. He has a practice in personal life coaching.

Rebecca practices exclusively in the area of family law in her offices in Plymouth and Wayzata. Her cases primarily consist of assisting families in collaborative divorce settlements and resolving conflict without having to make costly court appearances. She also does some family mediation and is on the Minnesota Supreme Court's list of qualified neutrals. She has recently been trained to practice collaborative divorce (focusing on settlement rather than litigation). She is a frequent divorce lecturer and is in the process of writing a family law outline to assist people in family law matters. Rebecca is a member of Minnesota State Bar Association Family Law Section, Minnesota State Bar Association Mediation Section, the Hennepin County Bar Association, and she is in the process of becoming one of the collaborative law attorneys for the Collaborative Law Institute.

During this presentation you will learn about the African American Adoption and Permanency Planning Agency's program designed to recruit adoptive families for Minnesota's waiting children.
Children waiting for adoptive families would include:
- Sisters and brothers who want to be adopted together
- Children who have experience neglect, abuse or abandonment
- Older children that want a permanent family
- Children who need families who care and are willing to make a lifelong commitment

Ever wish you had an open, safe and non-judgmental place to discuss sex and what it means for you and your partner ? What do sex and sexuality mean for you ? Are you comfortable talking about these things with your partner ? Christy will cover topics related to sexuality and family planning in this session. Bring your thoughts and questions !
Christy Barich comes from Community University Health Care Center (CUHCC) where she works with their family planning special projects. She does community presentations on a variety of sexual health topics. Christy is a youth development leadership master's student at the University of Minnesota and also works with teens in an Upward Bound program.
The Purpose of Life Is To Be Happy
Presenter: Robert Parker

Robert Parker has spent many years motivating clients in real situations and using intuitive talents all individuals possess but often don't use or don't trust. He is presently working on books covering these areas. He is realistic and fun in his outlook. He is big bun not "big winded". The talk will cover these hidden talents and each person can learn them for everyday life. He has found that people in general either try too hard to make things happen or they "almost" quit. He believes God gave us the means to be happy in all kinds of situations.
Robert Parker has no extensive business back prior to an during his twenty years as a professional psychic working with people such as Jeanne Dixon, Linda Goodman and many other professionals in the motivation, metaphysical and health fields. He has appeared on more than 800 radio and television shows since 1971. Noted in Marquis' Who's Who In America and Who's Who in The World as well as many publishing Directories. He has lived in Minnesota since Christmas Eve, 1973 moving from New York City and New England.
