Introduction to Men Helping Men With Anger
Presenter: Herb Jaehne
Wednesday, August 16, 7 - 9 pm
Open to Men & Women
With stories in the newspaper almost daily about violence in families, the workplace and the community, it is vital that men individually and collectively seek better alternatives to anger expressed as violence. This presentation will give an overview of the needs of those who believe that their verbal anger is out-of-control as well as those who want to communicate better to avoid the misunderstandings which can lead to violent anger. We specifically seek to serve men who are either verbally abusive or who tend to stuff their anger and could become physically violent-not those who currently are physically violent.
Herb Jaehne is the Coordinator of the Mens Center Men Helping Men with Anger program. He has served as a Mens Center Board member and past part-time director of the Mens Center.

It explores what is controllable and what is uncontrollable in our lives and directs us to put our efforts on the controllable parts. Doing what needs to be done is what Constructive Living is all about.

We will play with the interaction of energy and relaxation as we explore safe ways to express sincere playfulness and effortlessly be together.

Anger and Intimacy -- A Male Perspective
Presenter: Bob Anderson
Wednesday October 4, 7-9 pm
Open to Men Only
Anger can be a barrier or a bridge to intimacy. How can we own it and express it in ways that deepen rather than damage relationships? This presentation builds on the Mens Centers Anger Management program and looks at a positive definition of anger, harmful distortions of it, and connections with shame and intimacy-from a male perspective. Lecture, discussion and sharing of experiences will be supplemented by group activities designed to heighten awareness, facilitate healing and develop helpful assertiveness and communication skills. This is an excellent introduction or review of some key concepts found in the Men Helping Men with Anger program.
Bob Anderson is a writer, former teacher and veteran facilitator with the Mens Centers Anger Management program.
