TMC Administration Notes
DID YOU SEE THE 10 PM NEWS ON KSTP CHANNEL 5 ON MAY 21?? The Anger Management Program was highlighted in KSTPs Focus Five segment. Thanks to Herb Jaehne, Director of Anger Management, for his work in coordinating this publicity for the Mens Center. BUT, Herb needs more volunteer facilitators to keep up with the demand for new classes; PLEASE consider giving back to TMC if you are an alumnus of this class. The Mens Center Board received resignations from Chuck MacDonald and Kurt Nelezen. It accepted Fred Appell as a new Board member which leaves us at 8 when we should have 12 (twelve). Please consider joining the team of Board members trying to keep TMC available to YOU and the COMMUNITY. Financially speaking; TMC received two checks -- one from United Way and the other from the Cooperating Solutions Fund for dollars designated in employment payroll deductions. Remember TMC can be designated as a receiving non-profit agency when your employment solicits for either of the two above FUND drives. The Finance Committee revenue meeting on May 7 was POORLY attended(one person); thus there is concern that revenue generating will not occur or will be assumed to be done by some else who is NO ONE. Support group revenues per person average giving is slipping. No grants have been submitted for Anger Management Program as was planned. Program committee reported: Fall social activity of golf and campfire is not proceeding well. Off and On again is the Family Law workshop with Kelley Lorix, check with Norm Petrik for status. Outreach activities were: Continued follow-up on therapist mailing with next issue of MenTalk to have special insert. Connected with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mpls. Looking for volunteers to assist at PRIDE weekend. NEED DESKTOP PUBLISHING person for MEN TALK outer shell composition. The Executive committee actions were: Work on full time Executive Director for TMC continues with Fred Appell seeking foundations for guarantee of first year salary to fund the position. Job description for Exec Dir. is being developed. Anger Management Program is not being implemented as fully as described in the job description expectations. Remember the Mens Center is important to me and you; it is important to the Twin Cities community; and it is important to the Mens movement in the United States. I hope that you all will see and realize this importance and VOLUNTEER your time and talents by serving on our committees or by filling some of the HELP WANTED positions listed. Hoping you see Glory in your life. -- John Kuyper, Board Chair/MENTALK Coordinator |
